PADI Open Water Diver Course (Beginner Class)

What You Learn
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
- Knowledge Development (online, home study or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
- Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
- Open Water Dives to review your skills and explore!
If you’ve tried diving through a Discover Scuba Diving experience or resort course, the skills you learned may be credited towards a portion of the full PADI Open Water Diver course certification.
Prerequisites
To enroll in the PADI Open Diver course or Junior Open Water Diver course, you must
- Be 10 years or older

Our Courses
Your journey begins with reserving your place in a class. To minimize classroom time and focus on getting in the water, much of the academic material is covered through independent study with the Open Water Diver Crew Pack and DVD, which you receive when you sign up for the class.
Open Water Group Class – $335
You begin your class at 7 PM at a Wednesday night orientation. Your adventure continues over the next two weekends. The first weekend consists classroom review and pool fun, and you do your four open water dives the following weekend off the beach or a boat.
The Open Water Group Course is just $335* and includes tuition, course materials, certification fees and rentals. The student must furnish his or her own Scuba quality mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit boots, gloves and PADI logbook. All of this can be purchased through Beach Cities Scuba at a discounted cost!
*Price is $405 if you do not purchase snorkel gear from Beach Cities Scuba.
All class schedules shown here list the inital orientation day, followed by the first pool diving day. Your ocean dives are then generally scheduled for the second weekend (conditions permitting).

Open Water Semi-Private Class $575
Here at Beach Cities Scuba, we understand you’re busy and we want to accommodate your busy schedule by creating a special flexible course just for you. You begin your class at 7 PM at a Wednesday night orientation. Your adventure starts with a weekend of classroom and pool sessions and will continue the time span of two more weekends of rolling up the sleeves and blowing bubbles! The first weekend consists of classroom review and pool fun, and then you do your four open water dives another weekend off the beach or a boat. This course differs from our Group Class in that you have the flexibility to choose the weekends when you want to dive. We know it’s hard to devote two consecutive weekends to learn new skills.
The Open Water Semi-Private Course is just $575 and includes tuition, course materials, certification fees and rentals. The student must furnish his or her own Scuba quality mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit boots, gloves and PADI logbook. All of this can be purchased through Beach Cities Scuba at a discounted cost!
Private Program – $625
Private Programs are limited to single students or couples. Knowledge development occurs through independent study and close interaction with your instructor. All classroom, pool dives and ocean dives are personally arranged with your instructor to fit your individual scheduling needs.
